Turkey Free Tour] Teaching you to play all over Cappadocia: Red and Green Tours, Hot Air Balloon, Salt Lake, Activity Recommendations, Itinerary and Hotel Suggestions (Medium)
The last article talked about the most popular activities in Cappadocia: the Red and Green Line Tours and Hot Air Balloons, and this article is going to introduce other activities and attractions to visit in Cappadocia!
Salt Lake
There are two salt lakes in Cappadocia, one of which is the second largest in Turkey with an area of 1,500 square kilometers! During the daytime, the Salt Lake can be photographed as a mirror in the sky, while at dusk, the Salt Lake appears a light pink color, which is very beautiful and suitable for visiting! Due to its remote location, the Salt Lake has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years, but not many people in Asia know about it, so remember to visit if you want to have a unique experience!
Directions to Salt Lake
The Salt Lake is about 150 kilometers away from Cappadocia, and the round-trip journey takes about 4 hours. Although there are buses that can reach the nearby cities, they still have to change trains, so I suggest chartering a car for the round-trip journey (cabs are not recommended, as the price of cabs in Turkey is very expensive!) If you ask your hotel or travel agent for their services the day before your trip, they will help you with the arrangements; a more convenient way is to make a reservation on a travel platform.
The best time to visit the Salt Lake
In summer, I suggest you can leave around 3pm and stay one to two hours after arrival, you will have enough time to take the sky mirror and see the pink color of the Salt Lake. If you are going in winter, you need to leave around 1pm. To add, the Salt Lake is very big, so if you want to take the sky mirror, you need to spend more time to walk farther away, so remember to reserve more time to visit the lake. If you don’t want to go back and forth on the same day, you can also stay in a nearby city (Aksaray) for one night.

Recommended Activities
Must Play ATV
Apart from hot air balloon, you must play ATV in Cappadocia! The terrain in Cappadocia is very unique, and most of the road surfaces are uneven and wide, which is very suitable for off-road vehicle driving. You don’t need a license plate to drive an off-road vehicle here, as long as you are 18 years old or above, you can drive on your own, and for those who are not afraid, you can also choose to ride in a car with two people. The most important thing is that the price of off-road vehicle is cheaper than many other countries, about HK$300 for 2 hours, which is a great value for money.

Horseback Riding for All
Cappadoica means “beautiful horse”, and since there are many thoroughbred horses here, all of them are very beautiful, so how can you come here and not try horseback riding? Horseback riding starts from the stable and lasts for about 2 hours. You can ride the horses through the valleys and watch the sunset, which is very relaxing and enjoyable. You will be accompanied by an instructor, so even if you don’t know how to ride a horse, you don’t have to be afraid.

The Best Sunsets on the Horizon
Cappadocia’s wide terrain and lack of high-rise buildings make it ideal for sunset viewing. Because of this, many of the activities in Cappadocia are focused on watching the sunset (plus the temperature is very high in the middle of the day in summer, which is not suitable for outdoor activities), and I highly recommend that you participate in activities that allow you to watch the sunset to make the whole event more complete. If you don’t want to pay to watch the sunset, you can also go to Göreme’s Sunset Observation Deck, but get there early because it’s really crowded!
