Kyoto Railway Museum, a popular family attraction in Kyoto, has recently launched a special offer of buy-one-get-one-free tickets! Purchase your pre-sale tickets in advance at KKday for HK$81, or HK$40.50 per person after the buy-one-get-one-free offer. Children under 3 years of age are admitted free of charge, so you can enter Japan’s largest railway museum, experience the thrill of driving a steam train, see a model of the Shinkansen, and take a ride on the real “SL Steamer”!

The Kyoto Railway Museum is a collection of the history of Japan’s railways over the past 100 years, from the first steam locomotives to modern new lines, with as many as 53 real retired trains on display. Designed with the theme of “see, touch and experience”, the museum features not only train compartments to visit, but also a simulated driving training area for you to enjoy the experience of being a train driver. There is also a Sky Terrace on the 3rd floor of the museum, where you can see the JR Kyoto Line and Shinkansen trains passing by at close range. Those who love photography or train stops will love this place. Outside the museum is the “Old Nijo Station Hall”, which is designated as a tangible cultural property by Kyoto City and is one of the oldest remaining wooden halls in Japan. Inside the museum, there is also the paid ride “SL Steamer”, which departs from the old fan-shaped garage on a limited number of daily trips and slowly drives out of Umekoji Park along the vintage tracks. The neighboring “Kyoto Aquarium” is also a hot spot for families, where you can visit dolphins, penguins, and salamanders after watching the train, which is more than enough for one day’s fun!
